The Guest Quarters
A heartfelt renovation that honors original craftsmanship with materials built to last.
AN INTIMATE GUEST RETREAT THAT BALANCES SENTIMENT, COMFORT, AND EVERYDAY DURABILITY.
Florida
Lovingly built by hand by its original owner, this beachside cottage held a gentle charm that our clients were determined to preserve. Situated beside their newly built main home, the structure was reimagined as a welcoming guest retreat—one that honors its original craftsmanship while supporting the rhythms of multigenerational coastal living. The design emphasizes both durability and ease, using performance fabrics, salt-air-friendly finishes, and family-proof materials that can stand up to sandy feet and everyday gatherings. Vaulted ceilings, whitewashed paneling, and a palette of soft blues and neutrals keep the space airy and relaxed, while natural textures and whimsical moments add warmth and soul. Every decision balances sentiment with function, resulting in a retreat that’s lasting, unfussy, and full of heart.
